Jedat Inc., formerly the EDA Systems Division of Seiko Instruments Inc. (SII), started in business on February 2, 2004 as a wholly new and independent company.
SII launched its EDA systems business in 1980. Using all Japanese-technologies , SII became one of the leaders in the EDA field, taking on even companies in Silicon Valley. Despite the industry's tendency to experience "boom/bust cycles", SII's EDA systems business went on to become the world's longest-lived and most stable EDA enterprise, with a huge pool of customers. One of its best-known products, the SX Series, was developed entirely in-house, and has gone on to achieve sales of almost 4,000 copies.
New born Jedat will focus on the fields of full-custom design, DFM, and mask verification, which have traditionally been our strengths, and further hone our competitiveness. We, as a leader in these fields, provide optimum solutions to customers all over the world.
The new Alpha-SX Series, developed by Jedat, was launched on the Japanese market last year. The Alpha-SX Series is a new-generation EDA platform that draws on 20 years or more of experience and technology development. The Alpha-SX Series has been highly acclaimed from its release, thanks to its ability to greatly improve productivity through its seamless interfacing with powerful automated tools developed either by Jedat or other manufacturers, as well as its abundant functions, high speed, and ease of operation.
Japanese manufacturers are highly competitive in the fields of full-custom design and mask-related products, as typified by analog IC chips, memory chips, image sensors, digital-analog hybrid IC chips, LCD drivers, and LCD modules. We are confident that our EDA products, which are leaders in the Japanese market, will satisfy even the most severe requirements of our overseas customers.
Jedat also markets the latest American-produced EDA software and the products of companies for whom we act as agents within Japan. Our sales record in this area is excellent. In addition, Jedat's consultation services and customer support, backed up by leading-edge technical capabilities, have earned us our customers' confidence over the years.
Our ongoing management philosophy is to contribute to improving our customers' productivity by drawing on our outstanding technologies and ability to respond quickly, as well as our achievements and experience gained over more than 20 years. In addition, as one of the worlds' pre-eminent long-standing EDA companies, we will continue to strive to solve the problems associated with achieving larger scales, finer designs, and shorter development periods that our customers will face in the future. To this end, we will bring together both our domestic and overseas human resources and draw on our huge technology base.
